Hello Everyone,

In an effort to make our site run faster and more efficiently we've
updated our individual group search option to make use of our global
search code that many of you have been using for years now. You'll
likely see your search results return much quicker and by clicking on
the "Show Form" option on your listed results you'll be able to narrow
down or expand your search results in ways that were never possible with
the old group search option. Additionally, the font size, colors, and
default view are all endlessly configurable to your tastes by updating
your site preferences.

Still, we understand that many of you who have been with us for the past
decade may have grown attached to the past search results view. The old
search mechanism is multiple times slower than the new search; having
aged poorly with the growing amount of data that's being posted to
Usenet each day. The old search mechanism can only search through the
past 50 days of a group's contents, unlike the new one that searches
back through the entire retention of a group. To continue to use this
search, and its old but familiar layout, please select the check box
next to the group search button that is entitled "Use *older* Search."
This check box should appear within the next 24 hours. In the background
we'll be working on a way to utilize the new search code but format the
results in such a way that they appear exactly as they do today. We
expect to have that done by the end of July.
