Hello Members,
We've had our best week on Easynews Web in many months. We have had a few of
our slower file servers become overloaded and cause brief periods of
timeouts, but with the load we continue to take off of them, we're in
better shape every day.
You may have noticed our NNTP retention has surpassed 246 days. It will
keep going too...
[May 1]
We are over 25% complete with our upgrades.
[What we're doing]
-Using new storage to copy data off our 147 GB units onto 300 GB
units. This is the process of moving hundreds of terabytes
off disks so they can be decommissioned.
-Over 80% of our 147 GB drives have been upgraded to 300 GB - those will
go into production in two parts - likely on Wednesday of the following
two weeks.
-Shedding load from our deep storage.
[What you should be seeing now]
-Easynews "back to normal".
-Web indexes (old and new) will be up to date most/all of the time.
-Global Search results will be more current.
-Zip Manager should have much fewer slow/timeout issues. If you
have a reasonably sized zip archive (over 100 parts), you are
statistically likely to hit ALL of our file servers. So when
timeouts do occur, open an issue w/support and they can identify
what's going on.
-Autounrar backlog should become caught up to real time.
[May 2-8]
We should be about 50% complete by May 8.
[What we're doing]
-Continuing 147 to 300 GB disk upgrades.
-Using about 150% more IOPS and Storage of fast storage than we
originally had.
[What you should be seeing this week]
-Speedier Indexes, Thumbnails, Zip Manager and Global Search.
[May 9-15]
We should be about 75% complete by May 15.
[What we're doing]
-Rebalancing I/O
-Using all new fast storage - 392,760 total IOPS.
-Using all new deep storage.
[What you should be seeing this week]
-Good times.
[May 22]
We should be fully complete with our storage upgrades.
Thanks,
Boromir
