System Status Update 04/17/2009 Uncle JesseFri, 17 Apr 2009 14:55:27 -0700
The new equipment is not fully in place and configured yet. We will
not have this ready by tonight, but may have a significant portion of
it up over the weekend. We have been cautious to not rush the
implementation of the new equipment so larger problems do not
undermine our efforts. We have been closely monitoring the system
health all week and realized our efforts to stabilize the system while
the new equipment is being set up has been beneficial. Our internal
monitoring tools and reports reflect a much improved performance and
levels of stability we have not seen in a long time.

With this being said, we cannot accurately predict how the weekend
will go since the load volumes are so intense. However, this week's
stats and all of our efforts leaves us in a more positive mindset
moving into the weekend. We hope to have a very thorough update at
the beginning of the week to bullet point where we are at and what
users can expect for the next few weeks to come.

If you do experience problems this weekend with connectivity,
disconnects, speeds, etc, please do not hesitate to contact support so
we may assist you and track the issues. The Support Team has been
provided with better tools to assist customers more efficiently.

For those who use the NNTP, we'd like to note that the Newsmangler
issue has been resolved. We have monitored groups that had examples
of Newsmangler posts and new posts are behaving as expected. Thank
you to everyone who provided headers/message-ids as we were able to
get the new NNTP software patched and functioning with newsposting
software that does and does not comply with certain RFC standards.

As always, we are here 24/7. Please let us know if you have any
questions or concerns.
